Rabbi Daniel H. Mehlman, Mora D’asra of the Lido Beach Synagogue for 36 years is an alumnus of Yeshiva University and was privileged to study under Rabbi Joseph B. Soloveitchick z”l from whom he received Smicha at the Rabbi Isaac Elchanan
Theological Seminary. Rabbi Mehlman received a Master’s Degree in Hebrew Literature from the Bernard Revel Graduate School and a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Yeshiva University Wurzweiler School of Social Work. In addition, he has earned his certification as a Social Worker, L.C.S.W. and is a Doctor of Psychology, PSYD.

Rabbi Mehlman’s professional affiliations include Rabbinical Council of America, Yeshiva University Rabbinical Alumni, American Psychological Association and National Association of Social Workers. Rabbi Mehlman is the President of the Vaad of the South Shore.
Rabbi Mehlman has published numerous articles and has lectured extensively on topics such as Psychological Problems of Orthodox Jews in the Modern World; Children at Risk in the Orthodox Community; The Spiritual Impact on the Rehabilitative Process of the Mentally Challenged; and Identity Crisis Intervention.
In addition, Rabbi Mehlman has been a professor at Touro College, an adjunct professor at Yeshiva University Wurzweiler School of Social Work and the Psychologist and Director of Guidance in the P’tach Program as well as in HILI/Hillel High School.
